Driven by deep faith and compassion, Dorothy helped establish shelters and communities that cared for the unemployed, hungry, and homeless. Her witness to voluntary poverty, hospitality, and Catholic social teaching continues to inspire Christians around the world.
Dorothy Day passed away in 1980 while living among the poor she had spent her life serving, leaving behind a legacy of faith in action.
