The Way of the Cross By Saint Alphonsus Liguori

Posted by Monica Nachman on 19th Mar 2023

I’ve had Saint Alphonsus’ booklet since I was a young girl. I decided it was time to update the black and white artwork and the “thee’s, thou, and thy’s. As my booklet is quite aged , I’m happy to have Saint Liguori’s prayerful words in a more readable font and verbiage style. My only regret of the booklet is that some of the Stabat Mater Dolorosa verses are not the same as my original booklet. I love praying the Stations using Saint Liguori’s words. No one brings Christ’s journey to death on the Cross so close to one’s heart as he does. His prayers, written hundreds of years ago, still today speak to us and of us.

beautiful booklet but print too small

Posted by Fr Ryan Fischer on 9th Mar 2021

This booklet is outstanding in the art, format of the individual station's pages, and of course the stellar text of Saint Alphonsus' Way of the Cross. However, I did have to exchange it for the less-ornate large type edition because the type would be too small for my congregation. I would still get one for personal use, but for liturgical use, it was even too small for me, a priest in his 30s. Great customer service by Ziegler, though, in making the exchange happen!

The Way of the Cross, St. Alfonso Liguori version

Posted by Roseanne Bell on 26th Mar 2020

This is perhaps the most popular version of The Stations of the Cross. Our church uses it. It’s very good - nothing wrong with it - and many people live it. However, after using the version from Scripture, I find this one to be not as profound. But still a good one.
