The Way Of the Cross Is Rendered In Splendid Beauty Through the Art Of Mosaic
In the art of mosaic, "tessera", pieces of cut glass or marble, are carefully placed to render images and scenes. The tessera utilized here are produced by hand on the island of Murano, in Italy. Colors are melted directly into the glass and therefore will not be affected by sun or rain. The mosaics produced can be displayed indoors or outdoors; their beauty will literally last through this millennium.
The fourteen scenes of the Stations of the Cross are depicted in this set. Artists of the Demetz Studio in the village of Val Gardena, also in Italy, give meticulous attention to detail and shading so that the scenes are vibrant and striking, whether viewed from a distance or up close.
Each panel measures twenty-four by sixteen inches and has a hole in the back that will accommodate a heavy duty nail or square screw hook. Click on the thumbnail images at the left and hover over them to examine samples in detail. Because each Stations of the Cross set is hand-crafted individually, your set may appear slightly different from the images at the left. This is a result of the unique quality of the mosaics and will affect neither the quality nor beauty of your set.
During the season of Lent and throughout the rest of the year, this Stations of the Cross set will adorn your church and inspire contemplation of the "Way Of Sorrows".
