Perhaps the most widely read Christian devotional work next to the Bible, The Imitation of Christ is a handbook for spiritual life.  This religious classic, by Thomas Kempis, arose from the Devotio Moderna movement, of which Kempis was a member.  It was first composed, in Latin, during the early part of the fifteenth century, and has been a source of peace and wisdom for Catholics around the world ever since.

Kempis' work is divided into four books:  "Helpful Counsels of the Spiritual Life", "Directives for the Interior Life", "On Interior Consolation" and "On the Blessed Sacrament".  Deeply spiritual, it teaches us how to better live the life of a Christian by closely following the example of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

This edition is cloth-covered and includes sections on the Rosary and the Stations of the Cross.  It also features full color illustrations.

    The Imitation Of Christ

Posted by Marv on 2nd Sep 2021

I have just finished the first section in this book and felt compelled to leave a review/rating.
The Imitation of Christ by Thomas Kempis is perhaps, dare I say it, next to the Holy Bible one of the most important books for ANY Christian to read. It is absolutely a must read.
The wisdom contained in this book is essential to all of us who are concerned with our salvation.
If you are looking at this, but not sure if you want to buy it. Just do it! Your soul will thank you later!
As for me I will keep this book right next to my Bible and make sure I read from it often.
