At the conclusion of the Marian Year of October 12, 1961 - October 12, 1962, dedicated to Our Lady of Guadalupe, Pope John XXIII named Our Lady of Guadalupe "Mother of the Americas."
In this present age of darkness when so many are oppressed by discouragement and depression, it is good for us to remember the words Our Lady spoke to Saint Juan Diego in 1531: "Hear and let it penetrate into your heart, my dear little son; Let nothing discourage you, nothing depress you. Let nothing alter your heart, or your countenance. Am I not here who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection?"
The Mexican culture is deeply devoted to Our Lady of Guadalupe, due in no small part to the location of her miraculous visitation in 1531: Mexico City. To honor this devotion we offer this decal in Spanish, but if you prefer, there is an English version as well!
